About The Conference
The Psychomotor Conference originally emerged as a seminar for a smaller group of students of psychomotor disciplines from Belgium and education students at UJEP in the Czech Republic. The first edition was held in 2009. The organization was primarily led by Dr. Milena Adámková–Ségard, Assoc. Prof. Běla Hátlová from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Education, UJEP, and Prof. Michel Probst from KU Leuven in Belgium. This was a significant international collaboration that fundamentally influenced the development of psychomotor practice and psychomotor therapy in the Czech Republic. Over the following years, the conference became known to other professionals, especially physiotherapists from psychiatric hospitals. Interest in the conference grew among participants from both the Czech Republic and abroad. Since 2012, the organization has been led by Dr. Tereza Louková from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Education, UJEP. Between 2014 and 2017, the conference became part of the PsychPAT project, which focused on physical activity among psychiatric patients in the Czech Republic and Norway. A close scientific and research collaboration was established with the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NSSS) in Oslo, which inspired us mainly through its theoretical foundations related to motivation for physical activity (Self-Determination Theory – Deci & Ryan, 1984).
At the conference, you can attend a range of theoretical lectures in the fields of psychomotor practice and psychomotor therapy and take part in practical workshops, which are always experience-based. The aim of the conference is to disseminate the core ideas of psychomotor practice according to the EFP (European Forum of Psychomotricity), deepen awareness of the positive effects of natural movement on the mental health of the entire population, inspire and support participants in their work, and create space for mutual sharing of experiences in the fields of education, psychiatry, and personal development.
